Executives everywhere are expecting a step change in output now that agents can write code fast. Martin Tapp's team at Aptem has gone about as far as anyone: a year ago they were writing all their own code, with Copilot and other tools helping at the edges. Today they hand-write almost none of it. Getting there meant tearing up the rulebook and asking what still matters when the old definition of "productive" no longer holds. Along the way they've restructured into small pods of around four people and traded the Scrum approach they'd relied on for years for a trial of Basecamp's Shape Up.

Martin will walk through what they've actually done, including rebuilding their whole SDLC around Claude and standing up a dedicated team for operational efficiency. He'll cover what's paid off, like QA workflows that now let roughly a fifth of their code ship without peer review or manual testing, and what they're still figuring out.
