A Few Ways to Connect: EngineeringX Event Types

Summary: Martin Reynolds describes various event formats offered by EngineeringX to cater to different member preferences. These include focused discussions like 'Whiteboard' sessions, expert panels such as 'Hot Takes,' peer learning through 'Behind the Build,' casual 'Watercooler' chats, and formal 'On the Record' AMAs. Additionally, they host in-person gatherings in various cities. Members are encouraged to check the schedule for upcoming events.

At EngineeringX, we want to meet our members where they're at. That's why we run several event formats instead of one, each built around its own kind of conversation, so there's usually something that fits what you're looking for, whenever you have time for it.

Here's what each one looks like:

    Whiteboard

A small group of members, cameras on, nothing recorded, built around one specific topic. If you want a focused conversation on something that's actually on your plate right now, this is where to have it.

    Hot Takes

Industry experts dig into a current hot topic, then open it up for live Q&A. If you've got a take on it too, or a question you want answered, this is the one to check out.

    Behind the Build

One of your peers walks through a specific problem they solved, then takes questions. If you'd rather learn directly from someone who's already been through what you're facing, this is where to look.

    Watercooler

Loose, unstructured time to talk shop with other members. Cameras on, but there's no set topic and nothing to prepare going in. If you just want to meet people and see what's on everyone's mind that week, this is the easiest way in.

    On the Record

An AMA with a high-profile leader in the industry. Come with real questions — this is your shot at live access to how they actually think.

    In-Person Events

We also host dinners and gatherings in cities around the world throughout the year. Some conversations are still better face-to-face, so if one lands in your city, come say hi.
